Founded in 1892 Oldham Golf Club is literally on the edge of the town and as the town is in the foot of the pennines so the course is part moorland and the views from ‘top o' course' are quite magnificent, the Cheshire Plain and Jodrell Bank always visible and on clear days the Welsh mountains away to the west come into view.

Our membership is small by some comparisons, so members get to play when they want rather than joining the lottery used at some of the bigger clubs. We have a limited number of opportunities for new members in all categories for 2008. Please see the membership section for details. Application forms can be downloaded from this site, or picked up at the Club.

The course is in good condition and the greens are regularly voted best in the area. We welcome visitors on most days by prior arrangement and the packages for societies can be varied to suit most tastes.

We pride ourselves in being the oldest Club in the area and probably the most traditional, certainly the friendliest if our feed back from visitors is anything to go by.

As mentioned we are part moorland the first 9 holes are parkland and the local saying that one leg needs to be longer than the other to play here is probably just an excuse for those who haven't yet managed to handle the tight fairways. Bearing in mind the number of octogenarian members still playing in competitions the terrain of the course must make pretty healthy walking.

Oldham is a member of the Oldham and District Golf League. Visit their website at www.odgl.org.uk

Come and visit and enjoy.
